What are the ages of the campers? Campers range from 4 to 12 years old. Our camp is divided into Camp Amaranth Minis (4 and 5 year old's) and Camp Amaranth (6 to 12 year old's).
My child has special needs, can they attend Camp Amaranth? Camp Amaranth is an inclusive community. It is our goal to ensure that each of our campers have an enjoyable experience at camp. Camp Amaranth will work closely with DCAFS (Dufferin Child and Family Services) to ensure that your child receives the support that they need at camp. DCAFS will also be working closely with camp staff to ensure that they have the necessary resources to make your child's camp experience as memorable as possible.
What time can I drop off and pick up my child? Camp programming runs from 8:30 am-4:30 pm each day. You can drop off your child between 7:30 am and 8:30 am each day and pick them up between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm for no additional cost. If you require extended care for your child, we offer additional care from 7:00 am to 7:30 am for $25.00 per week and from 5:30 pm-6:00 pm for $25.00 per week. Where is Camp Amaranth located? The Camp Amaranth headquarters is located in the heart of the country at the Amaranth Township Building and Municipal park. The property hosts soccer fields, basketball courts, a playground, a pavilion, and a large indoor space for when we need a break from the sun. For parts of the summer, we also have access to the gym space in Laurel Woods Elementary School which is just across the road.
Registration
How do I register my child for camp? At this point in time, we only accept registrations in person at the Amaranth Township office. We are located at 374028 6th Line, Amaranth, ON. Our office hours are 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. You can download the registration forms here. If you are not available to register your child during our scheduled work hours, we encourage you to attend our evening registration on June 18th from 4:30 pm-7:30 pm or send us an email to make alternate arrangements. Please note that payment may be made in the form of cash or cheque.
How much does camp cost? The cost for camp is $150.00 per week. Please note that there is a discount for the week of July 1st and the week of August 5th as camp will not be open on the long weekends.
What is your cancellation and refund policy? Requests for cancellations or refunds must be made in writing and submitted to the Summer Camp Director. Camp Please contact the camp director directly for refund criteria. Refunds will not be granted for inclement weather or for inability to attend each day of the session. Refunds will not be issued in instances where the camper is removed from the program at the choice of the camper or the camper's parent/guardian, or is dismissed from the camp for contravention of camp guidelines or the camp code of conduct for behaviour.
Do I need to be a resident of Amaranth Township to register my child for camp? No. Regardless of where you live, your child is more than welcome at Camp Amaranth. Does Camp Amaranth accept subsidy from Dufferin County? Yes. Camp Amaranth does accept subsidy from Dufferin County. If you are eligible for subsidy, your first step is to reach out to your worker at the county and let them know that you would like to register for camp. From there, your worker will directly send us an approval letter advising us of how much money you are required to pay for your child's camp. Next, you will swing by the township office to register and make payment according to what is indicated on the letter. From there, Dufferin County will pay Amaranth the balance owing.
Health Information
What if my child needs to take medication during the day? If your child needs to take medication during the day, please ensure that it is in the original, labeled bottle in order for the Camp Director to accept it. The medication must be accompanied by a written note from the parent/guardian describing the amount, time and type of medication their camper must receive.
What if my child gets sick? The health and safety of your child is very important to us. Parents will be contacted immediately if an important medical concern arises. If you child is ill we will allow them to rest in a quiet spot, away from the rest of the campers. If they are feeling very sick or do not feel better after basic care, we will contact a parent or guardian to pick them up at camp.

What training and qualifications do your camp staff receive prior to the season? In addition to daily camp procedures, all of our camp staff are trained in Standard First Aid CPR-C, High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development, Camps On Tracks and Allergy Aware. Staff will also receive Behaviour Management training through B.R.A.V.E and be required to submit a Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to the start of camp.
